To avoid this happening administrators can use the “Lock” feature visible in the browser interface when logged on as Administrator.

Go to the high-level folder that should never be moved or deleted by one of your users. If the folder is not locked a “Lock” button will appear. Click to Lock the folder. If a folder is already locked the button will say “Unlock” and you can click it to set the folder back to the normal, unlocked condition.

The Lock is effective only in the Web Folder / WebDAV interface, and only if you are not the administrator.

Administrator access to the tool is at My Account -> Group Administration -> File Search

Enter any part of the file name you are searching for. It is NOT case sensitive.

The resulting display is in two parts:

• Active Files Found
• Deleted Files Found

Click the underlined link to an active file to download the file, or click the folder icon of the containing folder to go to that folder.

Select deleted files (check them off) and click “Restore Selected Files” at the bottom of the page to make the files active again.

If a folder containing a deleted file is also deleted then the folder will also be restored. If the restored folder has the same name as an active folder there will more than one folder of the same name. The same is true for restored files. If a folder is restored check folder permissions to be certain they accurately reflect desired access policy.

When a file is deleted it can generally be restored for 48 – 72 hours before it is permanently removed from the system.

The warning email is sent after midnight Eastern US time, and goes to the email address of the administrator ID.

To have this option turned on for an account email support@mydocsonline.com and include your administrator ID in the request.

You can set up the second ID by pointing it to our other, functionally identical webfolders server.

Presumably you have set the first webfolders account up at https://webfolders.mydocsonline.com, if that is the case try setting up the second account at https://webfolders2.mydocsonline.com.

This will cause Windows to treat the second server as “new” so that it asks for an ID and password.

The resulting Network Place can be named anything you choose, so you can name each one to reflect the ID logged in via that Network Place.

Once turned on the reports are generated nightly to show all new files uploaded during the day just ended, including files that were later deleted. Each line of the report includes:

• File name
• Folder the file is in at the time the report was created
• Date/Time of the upload

This feature must be requested from My Docs Online Support and will result in a new folder \Logs\Uploads in your account after the feature has been activated.

• Logins, including User ID, time/date, and client IP address (for geolocation)
• File uploads/downloads/deletes
• Folder creation and deletion
• File renames and moves

Introduced in February, 2009, this feature must be requested from My Docs Online Support and will result in a new folder \Logs\Activity in your account after the feature has been activated.
