My Docs Online and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation)
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) control the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List (USML).
ITAR regulations dictate that information and material pertaining to defense and military related technologies (items listed on the U.S. Munitions List) may only be shared with U.S. Persons unless authorization from the Department of State is received or a special exemption is used.
My Docs Online ITAR compliance is dependent on appropriate use by the customer. If files are uploaded that contain information or data covered by the USML it is the responsibility of the customer to only allow password-protected login access to US Persons.
If Share is used it is recommended to use the Share Password option and only provide the password to US Persons.
In addition, if Share is used to distribute ITAR-covered information the Share Management entry for that Share will include the IP addresses of anyone downloading the files. IP address geolocation can be used to confirm no downloads occurred outside the US. However, remember that even downloads inside the US must be by US Persons only (hence the recommended use of the password option).
Never upload files containing ITAR-covered information into the Public folder.
All file storage for My Docs Online is in the US. My Docs Online maintains its own servers and storage media in a secure location, and does not use a “Cloud” provider.
