What version of Java do I need for the Desktop App?

Although the Desktop App will work with older versions of Java on Windows and OS X, we strongly recommend you keep your system’s Java installation up to date.
This is not for Desktop App support reasons but for general Java security reasons.
OS X 10.6.8 and earlier versions use Software Update to install/update, Java from Apple.
Later versions of OS X and all Windows versions use the Oracle Java distribution, which can be found at java.com.
