The icon for the Desktop App disappeared or stopped working. How do I get it back?

Occasionally automatic updates (for Windows, Java, or for the MDO Desktop App) will remove the icon from your Desktop. In the case of a Windows Update issue the shortcut remains but doesn’t work.
You can often install a shortcut from the Java Control Panel, as described here.
If that doesn’t work solve it by taking the following steps
- Click Start > Control Panel.
- Double-click the Java icon in the control panel.
The Java Control Panel appears. - Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files. The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.
- Click Delete Files. The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears.
- Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
Note: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache. - Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.
When you have the cache cleared and the Desktop Icon deleted run the application again from this link. That should put a new icon on your desktop and launch the program.
