Occasionally automatic updates (for Windows, Java, or for the MDO Desktop App) will remove the icon from your Desktop. In the case of a Windows Update issue the shortcut remains but doesn’t work.

You can often install a shortcut from the Java Control Panel, as described here.

If that doesn’t work solve it by taking the following steps

  1. Click Start > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Java icon in the control panel.
    The Java Control Panel appears.
  3. Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files. The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.
  4. Click Delete Files. The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears.
  5. Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
Note: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache.
  6. Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.
When you have the cache cleared and the Desktop Icon deleted run the application again from this link.   That should put a new icon on your desktop and launch the program.
