If the Desktop App will not launch, or you are asked by your system how to open a “jnlp file” your java needs updating.
Visit the Java website to get the latest version of Java
Based on your operating system it will tell what to do (if Mac OSX it will tell you to do a software update, if PC it will provide the link right there).
You may also need to enable JNLP file (Java Web Launch) support.
Windows: Look for Java in the Control Panel. In later versions of Windows it will be under programs.
Mac OSX: Look in Applications…Utilities for Java Preferences.
Just to let you know, this didn’t work for me. I was not able to download the application in firefox [version 3.6.13] but I was able to download in internet explorer [just a few seconds after I tried to download in firefox] with no problems at all.
hmmm – that’s interesting. The application is a java webstart application so there should be no difference between the use of the two browsers. It could be that java is not being called using firefox.
However, once you run the Desktop App the first time, which you did with IE, then it should have put an icon on your desktop. If so you can launch it whenever you need it from that icon. It doesn’t require a browser to run.
