In “Computer” Right-Click an open area on the right side of the Window, then select “Add a Network Location”.
The “Add Network Location Wizard” will appear. Click “Next”.
When asked, “Where do you want to create this network location?” select Choose a custom network location. Click “Next”.
When asked to “Specify the location of your website” in the Internet or network address field, enter https://webfolders2.mydocsonline.com/webfolder, then Click “Next”.
Enter your User Name and Password when prompted (you may be prompted up to FOUR times. Just enter your ID and password each time and the fourth time it should work).

When you see “Completing the Add Network Location Wizard” Check the box “Open the network location when I click Finish” and Click “Finish” (it may take some time for the Web Folder to open the first time).

What version of Windows 7 are you using to do this, I have Windows 7 Professional x64 and it will not accept the credentials I specify it just bounces me back to the login prompt. The credentials I am using work perfectly on web folders in Windows XP, any suggestions as a lot of people have this problem and suggest it is a bug that needs fixing.

I have the same issue with W7 x64. We also use FrontPage to edit web oages, so if I try to FTP, it wipes out all our FrontPage extensions. I have no problem creating a newtork location on ANY other OS, including Vista! This is so terribly frustrating for me- I have 60 users that need that folder to drag and drop items into daily. NOT having that folder is insanity. I have searched far and wide for a solution, even duplicating the issue on the computer of a Microsoft programmer at a trade show and he was stumped. I have tried every listed suggestion including 3rd party software to no avail.
I would love for it to work for me as it does in your video- how I have dreamed of that moment ever since we bout computers with W7.
If you find anything, please e-mail me. Thanks!
I was having major problems accessing my dive club webpage to add content with Windows 7 using the HTTP://www.************.com format, so just out of frustration I tried using the FTP://www.**********.com option and hey presto worked a treat, try it for yourself.
Have fun
Thanks for leaving the comment. It sounds like your Dive Club page is hosted on an FTP accessible site. Do you know if that’s correct?
Steve
Does not work with 64 bit. Error message is “The folder you entered does not appear to be valid.”
Does the root folder you’re trying to connect to have any unusual characters? If so remove them and try it again. We’ve found that root folders ending in periods will cause that message.
I have the same problem as mentioned before. Strange is, the site https://somewhere.here/ is accessibe from windows xp with no problems, but from windows 7 it fails on authorization. Any idea where to look for further informations?
The question is not about My Docs Online but is a general Web Folders question.
The answer might be that unlike XP, Windows 7 Web Folders / WebDAV no longer supports basic authentication by the server.
Does your server use basic authentication? If so that’s the likely problem, and you should consider moving up to digest authentication.
I was able to create an eXist webdav folder using this method, but when I click it, it won’t open. I tried to adjust it using the properties menu option, but it keeps insisting that it’s read only. Can anyone help?
I think that I have just found a problem to the “drag and drop” web folder quite by accident without using any other software. If you would like further info, please email me at info@immortgage.co.uk. Just going back to check it again!!!
Please post the results of your additional testing here when you get a chance. Thanks.
I tried to add Skydrive as a web folder and the mapped drive is now shows up in Windows Explorer. How do I get rid of it?????
Please help!
You should be able to delete it from your network places.
This “Set-Up” page to activate My Online Docs was perfect for getting things going. Whoever wrote it did a wonderful job for idiots like me!
Thanks!
